I’ve written this before.
Life is negotiable.
Which led me to
Zen and negotiations.
And then to
Martial Arts and Zen.
See any connection?
A similarity between relations, negotiations and Martial Arts?
Can a martial arts philosophy be used in negotiations? In relations building?
Can the study of self defense and its fighting tools translate into improving relationships?
Well, think about it for a moment.
Every fighting art demands Concentration,
Focus, Preparation, Self Discipline, Awareness.
These very same attributes are needed in negotiating life, in reaching contract agreements.
And in building relationships as well.
You begin by first simply studying the Way of You, the way you perform, study, work – the way you do things – everything you do is uniquely yours. You may have been taught a certain way to do a task.
But in reality it is your interpretation of what you were taught that makes your efforts uniquely yours.
Your effort is unlike any others who may be attempting the same task.
It is yours.
Yours alone.
Only you can develop it using your interpretation of the tools needed to succeed.
To adapt, to act before you react.
Can it apply to negotiating? To reaching your resolutions?
Yes it can.

Since I do consider martial arts tools useful in negotiations, as a bonus in a future post, I will be offering some actual self defense responses one can use as a means of defending oneself from physical attack.
