Life Is Short!
When I started to think about this post, I thought I could impart some eternal wisdom I’ve learned through the years.. you know, my grand life experiences summarized in a series of Life lessons learned.
I’m sure there are perspectives I’ve learned and some might actually be of benefit to others.
But not today.
Today, I learned of the passing of a friend.
She was so full of life.
And yet,
She passed. Unexpectedly.
Too soon by any calculation.
She was a devoted wife, friend, volunteer.
I knew her father, he was a valued supporter of my efforts in the political world.
I met his daughter years after I retired from public office.
She was so energetic. Full of life.
She was in many ways a copy of her dad.
Always willing to help others.
So the Life lesson?
Life is (too) short.
Whether we exist in this world for 1 or 100 years.
It’s still too short.
What are our choices?
We cannot control the length but we can control how we live it.
Choose to live our life to the fullest.
And choose to be grateful for all we have.
Every day.
Just yesterday I was wondering if I had done all I could do.
I felt tired.
Life can be hard, it has a way of beating down.
Sometimes wondering what’s the point?
With the sad news of my friend, however, today, I realized each day may be a struggle but if I’m still here then it’s a struggle worth fighting.
I can look at her life as I knew her and realize each day is a blessing and, well,
Life is short.
Lesson learned
once again.
