I’ve written a couple of posts about routines. I think they’re good to have in life.

My Routine and Stick to the Routine A reccollection of some different experiences I’ve encountered while going through my everyday routines.
Recently someone mentioned to me that they were surprised that I have a routine on my off day (Saturday) when I’m not working. After all these years they didn’t know that about me. They were surprised to discover this trait. I was surprised they were surprised.
At any rate, here it is.
On Saturdays, I use the morning to get household chores done, you know the usual:
early morning work out, lawn care, errands etc. It’s only after I complete them do I go to lunch, usually at the club, visit with friends, have a glass of wine, smoke a cigar and then …
I’ll meet up with my bride and do whatever we’d like to do the rest of the weekend. It may include dining out, taking in a movie, visiting my mom, kids and grandkids.
Usual stuff for me.
And then it’s back to work on Monday.
What do I do if it rains – can’t mow the lawn? Well I can be flexible too. It just gets cut another day. Same with the other chores, if they don’t get done that Saturday, then they will just be completed on another day.
I would guess most people have typical routines on the weekend especially if they work during the week. I’d wager to say they all have routines in their daily life and not just on weekends.
This is what works for me.
And so I do it.
Maybe the surprise is that I don’t often try to vary from my routine.
Or, that perhaps I could actually better prioritize my chores.
Maybe, I don’t know. It doesn’t matter.
For me this is just a routine, a most every weekend event.
Things need to get done.
I do them first thing in the morning. To get them out of the way,
And then I can coast the rest of the weekend!
(learned that from my dad)
That’s Life.
or mine anyway.
(need to stp writing this post, time to mow my lawn)
