The other day, a friend of mine asked if I really did write down 10 ideas every day.
I said yes.
I do.
Or at least I try.
Thinking of, and writing out, 10 ideas can be hard – at the beginning.
I may only have 5 today.
But I keep trying. Then I’ll try to come up with one more.
I do try for 10 every day. I do this as part of what I call my daily practice.
I do something each day for my health – physical, spiritual, emotional and mental.
The writing of ideas helps me work on my mental health.
By doing this, my mind gets used to thinking about ideas, sometimes even solutions to ideas.
Answers to questions. Or solutions to problems.
If the brain were a muscle, then this is my work out.
It gets stronger with practice.
When I started I would always try to write down 10 perfect ideas. I could never finish.
Eventually I learned the ideas don’t have to be perfect, they just have to be ideas.
And then I learned listening to comedians helps too. They seem to always have a way at looking at thinks in a very unique and funny way. Like things to use as substitutes for wallpaper.
And that’s how I ended writing my book Reaching Resolutions 10 Rules for Success.
I began by writing down 10 things I wanted to do in my life.
I covered all of my jobs, dreams, ambitions. One of them was to write a book.
Then the next list focused on 10 book ideas I could write about.
One of those ideas was to write about negotiating.
Which led to 10 ideas for chapters of my book on negotiating.
And that led to, Reaching Resolutions 10 Rules for Success.
If you’re thinking I must be a genius to come up with this idea,
I’m not.
It wasn’t me, I actually read about this in James Altucher’s book Choose Yourself.
Reading his book, that turned out to be smart.
I’ll take credit for that.
Peace,
JT
