My life : The Movie

Ever feel like the life you’re living seems as if everyday you’re on a movie set?
You know: your live – your movie.

I wonder if other people feel that way. I do. My daughter says that’s pretty common. Maybe it is.

Quiet on the Set!

Even when I was younger, I was very conscious of what was going on around me and how my actions would fit in. Had to look the part, dress the part, act the part – and then…
I became the part!

I was always prepared to: fight, charm, be smart, get the girl, you know, whatever was called for.

And ACTION!

Was I being egotistical? Self centered? Thinking that I was living a movie? Maybe.
But I really felt that. It’s as if I had to measure every action to insure it would fit into my personal movie.

I was the star after all.
Which means that everyone else was a co-star.
So… maybe I’m not so egotistical after all. You were in my movie too!

And not like some of the “stars” of today. The ones whose lives seem to be always screaming out of control. Not me, I always had to control everything about me so that others watching my “real” life movie would like it.

I wonder if our culture promotes this type of total self awareness. We hear so much of celebrity live, it’s like we actually know them. They’re just like us!

But, I’ve come to the realization that this isn’t actually living. At least for me.
I’ve decided I just want to live (in) my own life.

So, …I’ve decided I don’t want to be the star of my movie anymore.

I’m just tired of it.

Fade to Black…

I guess that means I’ll be unavailable now for any acting roles.
In my movie or anyone else’s.

I’m retired.

And Cut!
That’s a wrap.
